Cytech Network Expands into Wales with New Training Centre in Swansea

Posted on 10 Feb 2026

The global Cytech training network says it’s strengthening its reach with the opening of its first-ever training facility in Wales.

Cytech
Cytech Wales

Launching this March, the new centre is operated by Cycle CPD, a new business founded by experienced cycle mechanic and educator Chris Dower, in a move designed to boost professional standards across the Welsh cycling industry.

The expansion comes as a result of a collaborative licensing agreement with the Association of Cycle Traders (ACT), allowing Cycle CPD to deliver the full suite of Cytech qualifications from a new purpose-built workshop based within Cycle Solutions’ headquarters in Swansea.

Strengthening the National Network

The addition of a Welsh base represents a significant step forward for Welsh industry, ensuring that the Cytech brand is more accessible than ever. By establishing a local presence, Cycle CPD aims to support the existing network of training providers by providing a dedicated hub for retailers and mechanics based across West and South Wales.

“I’m really excited to join the Cytech family and contribute to the growth of professional technician training,” says Chris Dower. “Our goal is to complement the fantastic work already being done by providers like Activate Cycle Academy by ensuring the Welsh trade has local, high-quality options. Being based in a busy business district in Swansea, surrounded by major industry players, makes us perfectly placed to help strengthen the technical skills of the local workforce.”

Chris Dower, Director of Cycle CPD, brings a wealth of educational and technical expertise to the network. As a Cytech master technician and a qualified lecturer, formerly lead bicycle mechanic instructor at Gower College, he is uniquely positioned to uphold the high standards the trade expects.

A Collaborative Industry Hub

The decision to house the training centre within the Cycle Solutions headquarters creates a unique synergy, positioning the site as a focal point for mechanical excellence in Wales.

Steve Edgell, Director at Cycle Solutions, said: “We are delighted to welcome Cycle CPD to our Swansea headquarters. By sharing our space with a dedicated Cytech provider, we are helping to create a more connected and professional local cycle industry. Having a facility like this on-site not only benefits the local bike shops and retailers in the Swansea area,  including our own Uprise Bikes stores, but also reinforces Wales’ position as a growing hub for cycling expertise and technical innovation.”

Purpose-Built for Professional Excellence

The Swansea workshop has been designed for focused, high-standard instruction, featuring:

  • Six dedicated workstations to ensure a high tutor-to-student ratio.
  • Full Cytech Curriculum: Offering everything from Theory one and Technical one – practical through to Technical three and e-bike, as well as individual suspension modules.
  • Industry-Standard Tooling: A wide range of professional tools and components to prepare mechanics for any modern workshop environment.
Commenting on the launch, Jonathan Harrison, Director of the Association of Cycle Traders, said: “Bringing Cytech training to Swansea is a significant milestone for the Association of Cycle Traders and the wider cycling industry. As technology evolves, accessible, accredited training in Wales will be essential to building a skilled, future-ready technician base. We’re delighted to be working with Cycle CPD to expand professional training across the UK.”

Launch Details

Practical training will officially begin on 1 March 2026. To celebrate the launch and encourage professional development across the region, Cycle CPD will be launching special offers for a limited number of course participants.

For more information on course dates and enrollment, visit the Cycle CPD training page on the Cytech website or contact Cycle CPD directly at chris@cyclecpd.co.uk.
